It all started at Bluegrass Lane in the summer of 2011. Nicholas (Nick) and Justine were both lifeguards at the same town pool, and became best friends. “We found ourselves telling each other things we never told anyone,” said Justine. “Our friendship was unique and carefree. It was so simple to laugh and be friends, we felt like we had known each other forever.” said Justine.

In the fall, Justine would drive to Binghamton to visit Nick at college while Nick planned trips home as often as possible. Nick came home after he graduated… and on December 20, 2015, he proposed. He asked Justine to go to the beach and watch the sunset—something they did often. “As we were walking along the water, I stopped to admire the sky. The sun could still be seen in the west and the big bright moon had appeared in the east. Ironically, I said to Nick, ‘The love story of the sun and the moon is so beautiful, don’t you think? Just look how beautiful this is.’ As I turned to see Nick’s response, I found Nick on one knee saying, ‘What about our love story?’”

Nick and Justine married at Oceanbleu in West Hampton. “The ceremony was barefoot, free, organic, and filled with lots of love and light,” said Justine.

Eucalyptus lined the aisles, and the flower girls dropped rose petals in the sand. The bride made two signs from driftwood she collected: One read “little chapel by the sea” and the other “shoes optional.” The bride wore an ivory romantic bohemian-styled, lace sheath wedding dress with spaghetti straps and a V-neckline with opal beads. Justine wore handmade lace barefoot sandals, a simple cathedral veil and jewelry, including an upper arm cuff. Exotic flowers adorned her hair, which was in a loose side braid. Her hand-tied bouquet included eucalyptus, succulents and a passion flower.

The bridesmaids wore topaz two piece dresses made from a slate grey fabric with a sheer georgette overlay. The look was completed with rose gold moonstone jewelry and a topaz bustier with flattering ruching on the cups and waist. Their hair was worn in a half up half down twist with baby’s breath.

The groom and guys wore gray tuxedoes with bowties (ivory for groom; dusty lavender for groomsmen) and Rockport Wing Tip Oxford brown shoes.

The reception’s vibe was boho hippie with a whimsical twist that featured colors such as lavender, gray, green, gold and dashes of coral peach.

“We loved our first dance and so did our guests, which was a choreographed dance by Dance Reverie” to Jason Mraz’ “I Won’t Give Up,” played on the guitar and sang by our cousin Martin Flanagan, said Justine.

The night started with a blessing from Justine’s dad. “Dancing all night and the bonfire at the end of the night was definitely the most fun,” said Justine. “We are blessed to say we had an unforgettable wedding of a lifetime surrounded by all the people we love.”

Nick and Justine enjoyed a 16-day honeymoon in Tahiti, Mo’orea and Bora Bora, where they stayed in a bungalow with a glass bottom floor.

“Nothing in life is perfect, some things won’t go as planned,” Justine advises other brides. “Just live in the moment, go with the flow and enjoy every second. Also, right before you walk down the aisle stop, stand completely still, look around and take in everything that moment has to offer... it’s going to be beautiful.”
