Diana and Robert met through mutual friends during freshman year at the University of Hartford. “We found ourselves hanging out between classes and on weekends, getting friendlier over time,” says Diana.

During a trip to Sonoma, California to celebrate Diana’s 25th birthday, Robert realized that she was the one. Two years later, the couple returned to California for Robert’s uncle’s wedding in Carmel and they decided to extend their trip to revisit Silverado. “I was sweating the whole weekend,” says Robert. When they got to Silverado, Robert couldn’t wait to grab a glass of wine and pop the question; but little did he know that Diana had planned a full guided tour through the winery, so his proposal had to wait a while. “I was nervous and sweating during the whole tour with the ring in my pocket,” says Robert. “When we finally got to the end of the tour, we were led onto a private patio with a table set for two overlooking Napa Valley. I couldn’t hold it in any longer and without hesitation I bent down on one knee and asked Diana to spend forever with me.” “She hugged me for the longest time,” says Robert. “It was the greatest feeling I’ve ever felt.”

Diana and Robert wed at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul in Hempstead, which they decorated with a custom aisle runner featuring their new monogram and wedding date, as well as flowers that hung from every other pew which matched two large floral arrangements on the altar. The bride wore a blush toned lace and- tulle gown by Victoria Kyriakides, a matching blush veil, a custom headpiece covered in Swarovski crystals, and sparkly nude flats by Christian Louboutin. Her maid-of-honor and bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses of different styles and the flower girls wore matching lace-and-blush tulle dresses. Robert wore a custom-made black tuxedo and his groomsmen were dressed in gray.

Inspired by Diana’s love of wine tasting and how Robert proposed, the couple chose a rustic burgundy wine colored theme for their reception at The Heritage Club at Bethpage (formerly Carlyle on the Green). The cocktail hour occupied the venue’s large Heritage Room, as well as outside where a three-piece band played classic tunes in a Reggae style and 10 food stations, including a lobster bar and a master carving station, were set up to serve guests. As guests made their way into the main party space, they passed an open-aired photo booth, which was a hit all night. In addition to the 5-piece live band, a DJ also entertained guests. “We were able to dance to wedding favorites, along with some international songs, as well as having live music while our guests enjoyed dinner,” says Diana.

Seeing Diana walk down the aisle was Robert’s favorite memory of the wedding. “I felt like I had waited forever!” says Robert.
